Hunter
About
Hunter is an all-in-one email outreach platform for marketers, salespeople, recruiters and others who want to connect with people by email. Its tools include Domain Search and Email Finder for finding addresses, an Email Verifier, Discover for building B2B lead lists, and Sequences for sending automated cold emails from the user's own inbox. Hunter's data is also available through an API, an MCP server for AI agents, browser extensions and a Google Sheets add-on. Plans run from a free tier through Starter, Growth, Scale and Enterprise, all with unlimited team members. The company says more than seven million people use Hunter.
Hunter’s Story
Antoine Finkelstein and François Grante created Hunter in 2015, shortly after graduating, to address the difficulty of finding contact information for cold email prospecting. They chose to use email addresses found on the public web, and the tool launched as Email Hunter before being renamed Hunter.
Over time Hunter grew from an email finder into a full email outreach platform, covering everything from finding contacts to sending cold emails. The team has been remote from the start, with members in Europe, America and Asia, and its About page lists Matthew Tharp as Chief Executive Officer.

What we’d expect selling here to look like
Hunter sells self-serve subscriptions with a free tier to founders, marketers, sales teams and recruiters, with a sales-led Enterprise plan and a credit-based Data Platform for API buyers. The motion implies a product-led business where most customers sign up on their own and sales focuses on larger credit volumes, API use and enterprise terms.
What it builds, by career stage
- Breaking in
- For SDRs, BDRs and those aiming for a first SDR role, the business implies working inbound sign-ups and free-plan users who show buying intent, which builds fluency in prospecting data and cold email.
- Building
- For account executives and account managers, it implies moving self-serve accounts to higher plans or Enterprise, and selling API and Data Platform credit volumes to companies building on Hunter's data.
- Leading
- For sales managers and directors, it implies building a sales function on top of a product-led, self-serve base and a small, remote team.
Where it can take you
The experience travels to other B2B data, sales intelligence and email outreach companies. It also suits moves into product-led growth, partnerships or revenue operations roles at SaaS companies.
