About
Stripe describes itself as a technology company that builds economic infrastructure for the internet, and businesses use its software to accept payments and manage their businesses online. Its products cover online and in-person payments (Payments, Checkout, Terminal and Link), revenue tools (Billing, Invoicing, Tax and Revenue Recognition), money management (Treasury and Capital), payments for platforms (Connect) and physical and virtual cards (Issuing). It also sells Radar for fraud prevention and Atlas for startup incorporation. Stripe Billing covers what the company calls the full quote-to-revenue cycle, including custom quotes and CRM and CPQ integrations. Stripe's customers range from solo founders to established enterprises, and the company says more than 5 million businesses build on Stripe. Stripe has dual headquarters in San Francisco and Dublin and was cofounded by Patrick Collison, its CEO, and John Collison, its President.

What we’d expect selling here to look like
Stripe sells to businesses of every size, from self-serve sign-up for startups to a contact-sales path for enterprises and platforms. The product implies a technical, consultative sale to engineering, finance and product leaders, where payments volume, integration effort and adoption of more products across payments, billing and money management shape the deal.
What it builds, by career stage
- Breaking in
- For SDRs, BDRs and those aiming for a first SDR role, the product implies prospecting into startups, platforms and enterprises and booking meetings with finance and engineering leaders, which builds fluency in how companies take payments and bill customers.
- Building
- For account executives, account managers and those working toward those titles, it implies running multi-stakeholder deals where the case rests on payment acceptance, billing models and integration effort, then expanding accounts into products such as Billing, Tax, Connect or Treasury.
- Leading
- For sales managers, directors and heads of sales, it implies leading teams that sell technical infrastructure to finance and engineering buyers, which means coaching reps to work alongside solutions engineers and professional services on complex integrations and migrations.
Where it can take you
The experience travels to enterprise sales roles such as account executive, strategic account manager or solutions consultant at payments, fintech, billing and developer-platform companies. It also suits moves into partnerships or platform sales roles at SaaS companies that embed payments.
